Welcome to State Dinner!

Welcome to State Dinner!

I have been thinking about starting a blog for quite awhile now. A number of friends and relatives have been telling me for years that I should start a food blog.  I’m their go to person for restaurant recommendations. I am very active on the DC foodie boards. And I love to cook!  I also spend an unusual amount of time thinking about food (seriously…lunch is a major decision).

Inspiration didn’t officially strike until I took a fantastic one-night class with Washington Post food writer Jane Black. In the class I met a number of wonderful DC-based food writers and bloggers and instantly came up with a million ideas.

So here I am!

Over time I hope to spiff up this site and make it look more “fancy” but for now I figured I would just jump head first in to the world of food and blogging and hope for the best. I look forward to sharing my thoughts on the DC dining scene, home cooking, and just generally seeing the world through the eyes of a slightly obsessed foodie. Bon appétit!

  4. Elyssa,

I just gave your parents a tour and tasting at Chappellet this morning. They told me all the wonderful restaurants you planned for them to visit in Napa. I wanted to leave work and tag along! I myself am a total foodie and wine enthusiast and look forward to reading your blog! Even though I am in California now I still like to know what’s going on back home!

  5. Thanks for checking out my blog Marissa. My parents loved your vineyard! I can’t wait until I can make it out to Napa….it’s practically mecca for a foodie like me.

  6. I have seen you on chowhound and always wondered if you had a blog or something. I think this is a great idea, because you have always been an inspiration to me -on chowhound!
